About Us

Andrea went to the dogs a long, long time ago…

She grew up with a Golden Retriever, Basset Hound-Poodle mix, and Yorkshire Terriers.  As an adult, it has been all about Great Danes; Bentley, Gracie, Lakotah, Molly, Higgins, Thatcher, Olive, and currently Watson and Phoebe.  Raising, Training, and Showing dogs in both Obedience and Conformation introduced her to a wonderful community of very serious dog people.  People who are serious about loving, caring, learning, and sharing - all for the sake of dogs.  Through her journey, she has met great mentors, participated in many classes and seminars, experienced trials and successes, as well as trials and errors; all with great dogs at her side.

Professionally, it was all about food for Andrea! She earned her Bachelor of Science from Penn State University - Food Science, studied Post Baccalaureate Nutrition at Western Carolina University, and spent many years in the food industry.

Food and Dogs have been the drivers of her life, so feeding dogs well, to feel well, and be vibrant, healthy companions ultimately became The TailGait Market.  What better way to share dogs, knowledge, caring, and FUN?

Eat, Play, Love! 

Ginger was born and raised in North Carolina but finds herself lucky to reside in WNC! Growing up around Dobermans, Huskies, Labradors, and cats fostered her love for animals at a very young age. Her compassion for animals has continued over the years in volunteer rescue groups and ultimately earning her the label, ‘foster failure.’  After earning a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill and spending 18 challenging years in the real estate world, she is thrilled to spend her days with furry friends!  She finds the community surrounding The Tailgait Market heartwarming (and educational!) and is ecstatic to share in the belly rubs, treats, and health of everyone’s beloved fur children!  Her roost is currently ruled by two German Shorthaired Pointers as well as two human kiddos.
